Spring Time Adventures around Yukon Oklahoma

With spring rapidly approaching, we wanted to share a few outdoor places where you can fish, walk, feed ducks or enjoy time on the water with the family.

Built in 1919, Lake Overholser is an urban reservoir nestled in west Oklahoma City close to Yukon Oklahoma. Catch excellent sunsets from the east bank or view the migratory birds from Stinchcomb Wildlife Reserve. Route 66 Family Park features a playground, duck pond and picnic pavilion for everyone to enjoy. Other facilities include boat ramps, fishing dock, covered fishing pier, picnic areas, grills, restrooms and group shelters. Recreation amenities feature a nature trail, soccer field and tennis courts.

Lake Overholser features seven miles of shoreline and 1,500 surface acres, with a depth ranging from six to 13 feet on average. Fishing, sailing, boating, jogging, jet skiing permitted. The eastern shoreline provides gentle, drive-up access. The boat launching area and dock on Overholser offer additional fishing access with one lighted fishing pier. The canal that runs parallel to the lake offers outdoor enthusiasts canoeing opportunities in the Canadian River.

Remember to get out and enjoy all the beautiful nature around Yukon and Oklahoma City. You will not be disappointed.
